May 2

Spring has very much sprung this week! I have spoken to the students and have asked them to be prepared for many types of spring weather. They are invited to bring or wear sunscreen, as we may be outside more often. Also, students may wish to have a sweater or long sleeve shirt because the inside of the school can be inconsistently warm or cool.  Students are encouraged to ensure they have outdoor footwear that is appropriate for gym class outside.

Math:

We have been working on fractions. This includes concepts of identifying and representing fractions with a denominator of up to 12, fractions on a number line, and comparing fractions with the same denominator. This has been going very well.

English:

We will wrap up the final copies of our mystery stories.

Spanish:

We have been working on speaking and writing activities related to clothing and will extend this to talking about how to prepare for travel and trips.

Social Studies:

We are talking about the environment in the four countries and how people around the world interact with their surroundings and use their resources.

Science:

We are looking at testing designs and materials for building. Out first experiment is to compare square and arch shaped structures.
