Swimming has been a terrific success this past week. Students have been greatly enjoying lessons, and the bus ride has also been a highlight for many of the kids.
In math, we have begun to look at numbers from 1000 - 10 000. We are representing them in expanded form such as 2318 = 2000 + 300 + 10 + 8. We have also begun to look at properties of different polygons (polígonos). We have only begun to talk about some specific vocabulary like vertices.
In Spanish, we are creating an ABC book to showcase students learning with regards to writing.
In English, we have been reading different picture books and discussing how to make personal connections to events, or ideas in the text. We are using sentence starters such as "This reminds me of..."
In social studies, students will be making posters to show their learning about Quality of Life.
In Science, students attempted to identify if a rock is igneous, sedimentary, or metamorphic and they explained how they knew. We will revisit this activity again.
Raz Kids will be available for our class next week. Students will bring home a card with their login and password. Please check to ensure that you can log in. We will use this in class for literacy in Spanish and English. Students are encouraged to read daily at home and Raz Kids provides excellent Spanish reading resources to add to your child’s daily reading routine.
